A novelist would be hard pressed to invent a life story as incredible as that of the Brazilian star pianist João Carlos Martins. Success and personal tragedy, traumatic injuries and triumphant comebacks mark his fate. At the end of the nineties, Martins’ career seemed to be over for good when he had to have the nerve in his right hand severed.
